Mourinho is confident of signing Arsenal

Manchester United believe in their ability to sign for Arsenal during the summer transfer period.

Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho is confident he can persuade Arsenal's Massoud Ozil to stay in the Premiership and move to Old Trafford, The Independent newspaper reported.

Ozil has the right to leave for any other team for free next summer, when his current contract with Arsenal ends, if he continues to refuse to extend his association with the London club.

Negotiations are under way between Arsenal and representatives of Ozil over the renewal of the player's contract, with Arsene Wenger retaining his services despite his modest performance during the season.

If Arsenal fail to persuade the former Real Madrid player to extend his contract, he may be forced to abandon him in the winter transfer window, in order to avoid his departure without charge in the summer.

Mourinho looks forward to convincing the player to come to United, taking advantage of his good relationship with him when he was a player under his artistic management at Real Madrid.

United are also watching developments between Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez, whose contract expires next summer.
