Ireland striker Sean Long will miss a crucial World Cup qualifier against Wales in Cardiff on Monday, officials said.
Long, who will miss Wales, was injured by a groin injury.
The Irish team, who can secure second place in Group D and have a win over Wales, will have to compensate for the absence of 30-year-old Long, who played for Moldova on Friday and has played more than 70 caps.
